How We Started Vondeling Africa

1995The start of his love for the continent
Wigle Vondeling is born on a dairy farm in Friesland, Nederland. Having gone through agriculture education, an internship on the old-colonial dairy farm of Lord Delamere in Kenya in 1995, was the start of his love for the continent.

1996A longer period of time
In 1996 he went back to Kenya to manage a beef ranching and meat processing project.

1997His graduation
After his graduation in 1997 he started working as a Food & Agri Relationship Manager for Rabobank in Nederland.

2007Rabo Development
In 2007 he continued his career at Rabo Development; the investment & advisory company of Rabobank, with focus on Africa.

2009 & 2016Mocambique and Zambia
In 2009 he was seconded to Head the Food & Agri banking department of Rabobank’s ‘partner bank’ in Mocambique. In 2016 he moved to Zambia and was seconded to the Food & Agri banking department of Zanaco, a Zambian ‘partner bank’ of Rabobank.

2019 & 2020 Vondeling Africa
In 2019 the family returned to Nederland and in 2020 Wigle left Rabobank after 22 years and registered Vondeling BV, with the trade name Vondeling Africa.

Annelies Prent
Annelies Prent is born in a family of entrepreneurs. She had a career in mortgage financing & private banking at Rabobank and resigned before they moved to Mocambique. Back in Nederland she manages the kids, the family-owned properties and the Vondeling Africa office.
